GetAbstract is pretty solid!

Been trying out a few summary apps lately, and getAbstract is definitely up there with the best of them, giving Blinkist a run for its money. I've been really impressed with their economic reports summaries – super helpful for staying on top of things without drowning in detail. It's a shame they don't have a monthly billing option, as I'm not always ready to commit to a full year right away, but the annual plan discount was pretty good. Overall, it's a great way to quickly absorb a lot of info.

Great value with annual plan

This was my first time trying getAbstract. I was looking for a good deal and saw they had annual plan savings. I paid for the annual professional subscription, and it felt like a solid investment compared to buying individual books. The content quality was good, especially the business strategy summaries. I felt I got my money's worth and then some.

Helpful for learning, some minor bugs

I ordered the professional subscription after using the 3-day free access. Ordering was smooth; I did it on my phone. Delivery was instant since it's a digital service. I used it for a personal development plan and found the summaries pretty useful. I mainly read the book and article summaries. Sometimes the audio player on mobile glitched a little, but nothing major. The content itself was high quality and helped me grasp new concepts quickly. Their customer support responded in about a day when I asked about downloading for offline use. Overall a positive experience.

Good summaries, easy to use

I got a professional subscription. The book summaries were helpful. Interface was clean and easy to navigate. Downloaded a few for offline reading. No issues at all.

Consistent service, reliable content

I've been using getAbstract for a couple of years now. This time I renewed my professional subscription and focused on technology trends summaries. It was the same reliable service as always. The summaries are consistently well-written and concise. I appreciate that they keep updating their library. I've tried other similar services in the past but always come back here because the quality is just more consistent. No surprises, which is what I like.

How many books are we talking about here? Like, is the library actually big or just a handful of popular titles?

P Priya 2 months ago
It's huge, way more than a handful. I've been a subscriber for a while and I'm still finding new stuff all the time, especially in my niche.

They've got a ton. I think it's tens of thousands. Definitely not just the bestsellers, a lot of deeper dives too.

I'm always on the go, so I need to know if I can read these summaries when I'm offline. Is that an option?

L Lisa Hughes 2 months ago
Yep, you can download them. I usually download a few to my tablet before a flight. Works fine.

They have an app, and you can save stuff for offline reading. Pretty standard feature these days.

Can you pay monthly, or do they force you into an annual subscription right away?

S Sam Y. 2 months ago
I signed up for an annual plan, I don't recall seeing a monthly option for individuals. I think it's mostly annual to get the better pricing.

Pretty sure it's mainly annual plans for the personal subscriptions. They might do monthly for enterprise but not for single users.

Been looking at getAbstract and Blinkist. Anyone used both and can say which one is better for just getting the gist of business books?

L Laura C. 1 month ago
I tried both. GetAbstract feels a bit more professional and detailed, especially for business stuff. Blinkist is good for general non-fiction, but GA goes deeper.

Blinkist is lighter, good for quick reads. GetAbstract gives you more substance, I think. Depends on how much detail you want from a summary.

Are their summaries actually legit? Like, are they well-written and not just some AI-generated fluff?

L Laura Okafor 2 months ago
Nah, they're not AI fluff. They have actual experts writing and reviewing them. You can tell they put work into making them coherent and accurate.

They're pretty good. I've read a few summaries for books I've also read in full, and they capture the main points really well without losing too much.
